The Pinport guide
Shortcuts and small habits
Make saving and finding links part of your everyday flow.
Search from your browser’s address bar
Connect the extension. In Chrome or Edge, type p and press Tab (or Space if enabled in your browser). In Firefox, type p and press Space. Then enter your query and choose a suggestion to open a bookmark.
The extension’s default keyword is p. It cannot be changed in Pinport’s settings. Another extension or a browser shortcut can also use that keyword. If it conflicts, use a separate website search shortcut with a keyword of your choice, such as pp.
Choose your own website search shortcut
This shortcut opens results on the Pinport website after you submit a search. It works without the extension and does not provide the extension’s bookmark suggestions in the address bar. Sign in on the Pinport website to search your library; the extension’s sign-in is separate.
- In Chrome, open
chrome://settings/searchEngines and choose Add under Site search. In Edge, openedge://settings/searchEngines and add a search engine. In Firefox, open Settings → Search and add a custom search engine under Search Shortcuts or Additional search engines. - Use Pinport as the name, an unused keyword such as pp as the
shortcut, and
https://pinport.app/search?q=%s as the search URL. Keep%sexactly as shown: your browser replaces it with your search text. - Save the shortcut. Type pp in the address bar, activate it with Tab in Chrome/Edge (or Space if enabled) or Space in Firefox, then type your search and press Enter.
This adds a separate shortcut and leaves the extension’s p keyword in place. Manage the custom shortcut in your browser’s search settings. The upcoming Safari extension will support search inside its popup only.

Keyboard shortcuts
Open the browser extension
In Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, press Alt + Shift + P to open Pinport’s side panel (Option + Shift + P on Mac). The browser must be focused and the extension installed and enabled. This also works in a new browser window.
These are the default keys. If they do nothing, update the extension and check its assigned shortcut. Another extension or your operating system may already use the same keys. You can change the assignment in your browser:
- Chrome: open
chrome://extensions/shortcuts. - Edge: open
edge://extensions/shortcuts. - Firefox: open
about:addons, select the gear menu, then Manage Extension Shortcuts.
Find Pinport’s Activate the extension action and assign your preferred keys. Copy the browser address above into the address bar to open it.
In the web library
| Shortcut | Action in the library |
|---|---|
| Ctrl/Command + K | Focus search. |
| Ctrl/Command + click | Select a bookmark. |
| Shift + click | Select a range. |
| Ctrl/Command + A | Select the current results when not typing. |
| Delete | Open the delete confirmation for the selection. |
| Escape | Close the active editor, panel, or menu; with those closed, clear filters. |
The library shortcuts do not replace text-editing behavior in inputs. In the Tags field, Enter, a comma, or a semicolon adds the typed tag.
Save a link from another app
If Pinport is available in your device’s share menu, select it and review the save form. Otherwise, copy the link and paste it into New bookmark. Mobile saving guide →
Keep the extension close
Use your browser’s Extensions menu to pin Pinport to the toolbar. If it is installed but missing, check whether it is disabled or restricted in the current browser profile.
Give your library its own window
Use your browser’s install action if available, or pin the Pinport tab. Desktop setup →
