Import and export

Bring your collection with you. Take it with you whenever you like.

Import an HTML file

  1. Export bookmarks from your browser or bookmark manager as HTML. Instructions for common sources are below.
  2. Open Settings → Import & export, or the import step in setup.
  3. Choose the HTML file. Review the number of ready, duplicate, and invalid bookmarks. Expand the preview to inspect titles, URLs, and tags.
  4. Optionally add a tag to every bookmark in this import, then choose Import.
  5. Keep the page open until the success message appears. Open your library to see the results.

Import requires an active trial or subscription. Files must be smaller than 50 MB. CSV, JSON, ZIP archives, uploaded files, and saved-page archives are not supported by the HTML importer.

Pinport keeps link URLs, titles, tags, and notes stored in HTML descriptions. Folder names, including parent folders, become additional tags. It does not reproduce a folder tree. Screenshots, uploaded files, highlights, and archived page copies are not transferred.

Import directly from your browser

On desktop Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, a compatible Pinport extension can read this browser profile’s bookmarks without an export file.

  1. Install or update the extension and connect the account you want to import into.
  2. In the extension’s Settings, choose Import browser bookmarks. You can also open direct import from Pinport setup or Import & export settings when the extension is detected.
  3. Choose Read browser bookmarks and approve the browser’s bookmark-access prompt.
  4. Check the account and preview, then confirm the import.

Your original browser bookmarks are left in place. This is a one-time import, not ongoing synchronization. If the option is missing, update the extension or use an HTML export. Safari and mobile browsers use the file import path.

Move from Raindrop

In Raindrop’s web app, open the collection you want to export and choose Export → HTML. For a whole-account backup, use Settings → Backups, create a backup, and download its HTML file when ready. If the download is an archive, extract the HTML file first. See Raindrop’s export instructions.

Import that HTML file into Pinport. Collection names become tags alongside the tags already attached to links. Check the preview before importing, especially for nested collections and long notes.

Export from your browser

Chrome, Brave, and other Chromium browsers

Open the browser’s Bookmark manager, open its menu, and choose Export bookmarks. Save the HTML file. Menu wording can differ between browsers. Chrome’s export instructions.

Edge

Open Favorites, then its menu, and choose Export favorites. Save the HTML file and select it in Pinport.

Firefox

Open Bookmarks → Manage bookmarks. In the Library window, choose Import and Backup → Export Bookmarks to HTML. Use the HTML export, not Firefox’s JSON backup. Firefox’s export instructions.

Safari on Mac

In current Safari versions, choose File → Export Browsing Data to File and select Bookmarks. Extract the downloaded ZIP and choose the bookmarks HTML file in Pinport. Older Safari versions offer File → Export Bookmarks directly. Safari’s export instructions.

Duplicates and invalid entries

The preview skips exact URLs already in your loaded library, as well as repeated URLs in the selected file. It keeps the first valid occurrence; it does not merge tags or notes from duplicates. Different query strings or fragments count as different URLs.

Invalid URLs, long titles or notes, and invalid tags are listed for review. Those entries are skipped rather than silently shortened. Correct them in the source and export again, or save them manually.

If import is interrupted, successful batches stay saved. The current preview remembers confirmed batches. If the connection failed after a request was sent, check or refresh your library before retrying to avoid duplicates.

Export your Pinport library

Open Settings → Import & export and choose Export bookmarks. Pinport downloads an HTML file with your URLs, titles, notes, and tags. To export only part of your collection, select bookmarks in the library and use Export.

Other apps may not understand HTML tags or notes even when they import the links. Keep the original export as your backup. Pinport’s export does not contain archived website copies.
