The Pinport guide
Save and edit bookmarks
Keep the link, and a little context for your future self.
Save in the web app
- Open your library and choose New bookmark.
- Paste the Website URL. Pinport tries to fill in its title; you can change it.
- Add a note about why the page matters to you. Add tags if they will help you find it.
- Choose Save. The bookmark appears in your library.
This is an interactive example, not a saved bookmark. Your changes stay on this page.
Use HTTP or HTTPS links. Internal browser pages and JavaScript bookmarklets cannot be saved as ordinary bookmarks. A title can have up to 250 characters, a note up to 1,000, and each tag up to 50.
Edit a saved bookmark
Open a bookmark’s details using the details button beside it, then choose Edit. Change its URL, title, notes, or tags and save. Clicking the bookmark’s title opens the original website.
Save while browsing
Install and connect the extension. Open Pinport and choose Save page to use the active tab’s URL and title. You can also right-click a page or a link and choose Save to Pinport…. Review the form and save.
If you paste a different URL into the extension, give it a title yourself. The extension does not fetch a title from a pasted URL. Your note is always your own text.
Save from your phone
Copy a link from your browser, message, or another app. Open Pinport, choose New bookmark, and paste it. If Pinport appears in your device’s share menu, share the link to it instead. Share-menu support depends on your installed app and platform.
Save in an installed web app
The installed web app uses the same New bookmark form as the website. Keep it open next to your browser and paste links as you work.
Use the bookmarklet
A bookmarklet opens Pinport’s save form with the current page’s URL. It is useful when you cannot install the extension.
- Show your browser’s bookmarks bar.
- Drag Save to Pinport ↗ to the bar. Drag it rather than clicking it on this page.
- Visit a page you want to save and click that bookmarklet.
- Sign in if needed, review the details, and save.
If your browser blocks the new window, allow it for this action. Some restricted pages do not allow bookmarklets; copy the URL into Pinport instead.
Already have lots of links?
Import a collection instead of saving each bookmark by hand.
